EPC – About Energy Performance Certificates

EPC – Energy Performance Certificates measure the energy efficiency of your property. They are a legal requirement and help work towards better energy efficiency, and in turn, lower energy bills. We can carry out assessments for EPC at residential and businesses located in the North East from our base in Stockton including properties in the North East, North Yorkshire and Northumberland regions.

What Is An EPC?

Introduced in 2007, Energy Performance Certificates (EPC) are required to measure the energy efficiency of a building on a scale of A – G.

These certificates are valid for up to 10 years and are a legal requirement for residential and commercial properties.  These certificates will tell you about the impact of your property on the environment, with band A being the most efficient with the lowest impact through Carbon Dioxide Emissions.

The certificate will include recommendations on how you can make your property more energy efficient, as this will not only potentially save you money on energy bills, it will also help you reduce your businesses carbon footprint. Be aware that if you do not obtain an EPC when you need one, you could be fined.

How To Contact An EPC Assessor

(EPC) can only be produced by a qualified Domestic Energy Assessor who is a current member of one of the official accreditation bodies. All of our Assessors are fully qualified, insured and accredited to carry out the required checks. You can call us today or contact us by email to arrange an assessment. We operate across the North East to provide a friendly, professional service.

How An EPC Assessment Works

We will arrive at your property and require access to all rooms, and if needed, any loft spaces. The assessment is a non-invasive visual inspection, that may also require the assessor to take measurements and photographs of your property where appropriate. Heating systems and controls will be inspected. The length of the assessment will vary on the size of your property, with more time required for larger buildings.

The key data will then be entered to produce an energy performance certificate for your business, which will be logged and produced within 2 working days. This will then be sent by email to your agent or solicitor. You can also have a copy by email if required.
